Shape of Things to Come
Future architecture
—
As part of London Festival of Architecture 2008, an exhibition was created to showcase the new architectural hubs of South Central London.
The local authorities and developing partners, including British Land, Oakmayne, Lend Lease and Savills were keen to create an event that emphasised the iconic, architectural landmarks that would sit at the heart of local communities.
Wire was commissioned based on an understanding of renewal, social housing, architecture and commercial development. The title and theme for the event ‘Shaping the Future' was derived from the striking and iconic shapes of the landmark buildings. A stencil font referenced ‘old school' architectural typography and solid blacks and bright yellows were combined for maximum contrast and impact and to compliment the unfinished, industrial concrete surroundings of the setting.
The launch event was oversubscribed and the event was praised by all the partners and the curator for the idea and clear supporting information.
