Pied à Terre

Brand identity

Run by David Moore with chef Shane Osborne, Pied à Terre is one of only seven 2 Michelin star restaurants in London. It is the epitome of fine dining and exquisite cuisine. In 2006 the restaurant suffered a terrible fire and was closed for a year for extensive rebuilding and refurbishment.

David saw this as an ideal opportunity to improve the overall image and identity of the restaurant. He was looking to create something more unique and distinctive; a brand mark and supporting visual language that could easily be applied and that would take Pied à Terre forward into the future. David approached Wire after hearing about their thoughtful, honest approach and ability to create simple, clear solutions.

The focus of the solution is a clean, solid mark created from the well-observed typographical relationship between the p, a and t of Pied à Terre. This is supported by subtle representation of Shane's trademark culinary ‘drizzles' and rich, burgundy, cream and chocolate tones designed to enhance the newly designed interiors.

The identity was then carefully crafted onto forty items from butter stamps and ashtrays to calf-bound wine boxes and staff uniforms. Within weeks of reopening, the restaurant was receiving rave reviews both nationally and internationally. A third Michelin star awaits.

“Pragmatic problem solving combined with intuitive designing, moving our image into the premier league and adding to our competitive edge.”
