Leonard Cheshire Disability: Choice

Magazine redesign

Leonard Cheshire Disability is the largest, voluntary sector provider of care and support services for disabled people in the UK.

They had been producing an A4 magazine called ‘Choice’ for some time but the format and design had become predictable and corporate. Wire were approached to add a more professional and engaging design and layout. As part of our remit, we were also tasked with improving the readability and accessibility and, streamlining the editorial/design and production process whilst reducing costs.

The result… better design and professionalism in a large format, A3 newssheet that has more space with a more readable body copy typeface, better hierarchy and layering and better use of image.

“We contacted Wire when we wanted a fresh look for our in-house magazine, which is read by disabled people, staff and volunteers. From our first meeting Wire challenged our ideas about accessible design, and opened our eyes to new ways of doing things. The result is a big step for us:
a beautiful, bold and quite daring design, which has reinvigorated the magazine and provoked a lot of comment.”
