Crossfields 1: Access
Themed collaboration book
Crossfields is a series of publications aimed at encouraging debate of topical issues through the medium of creativity.
The first issue, Access, asked a host of designers, illustrators, photographers, artists and writers to explore anything from human rights, to barriers and opportunities in day-to-day life.
Access's design highlights a perceived lack of access increasingly prevalent in the 'War on Terror' era of the G W Bush years. It speaks of the lack of access so many still have, from those with impairments, to those from under-privileged backgrounds. Rather than being intended as a negative portrayal of society, it serves as a reminder that there is still much to strive towards.
An overwhelming amount of contributions were received, with huge diversity in interpretation of the brief, creating an intriguing collection of personal responses.
