Canada Water is a prime location on the south bank of the riverThames, between Rotherhithe and Greenwich. The area was originallyregenerated in the late 1980s but has failed to deliver on itspotential.
Southwark Council, Barrett Homes and British Land arenow partners in a new approach to redevelop the area. Their simple aim- To create a joined-up community that benefits from the prime riverlocation, the heritage of the docks and strong community spirit.
Wirewas employed to help the partners develop a set of messages and visuallanguage that could help all of the partners to communicateconsistently and with one clear voice to investors, commercial partnersand local audiences.
After consultation and research, the singlemost important message came to the surface. The message ‘By the Water'would resonate with potential investors, relate to local history andconservation and create a sense of local pride for residents. Thevisual language was developed quite literally to ‘reflect' thisimportant advantage.
Wire went on to design promotionalmaterials, hoardings, exhibitions and a comprehensive set of guidelinescreated to work seamlessly alongside existing partner identities.
