Canada Water

Regeneration programme

Canada Water is a prime location on the south bank of the river Thames, between Rotherhithe and Greenwich. The area was originally regenerated in the late 1980s but has failed to deliver on its potential.

Southwark Council, Barrett Homes and British Land are now partners in a new approach to redevelop the area. Their simple aim - To create a joined-up community that benefits from the prime river location, the heritage of the docks and strong community spirit.

Wire was employed to help the partners develop a set of messages and visual language that could help all of the partners to communicate consistently and with one clear voice to investors, commercial partners and local audiences.

After consultation and research, the single most important message came to the surface. The message ‘By the Water' would resonate with potential investors, relate to local history and conservation and create a sense of local pride for residents. The visual language was developed quite literally to ‘reflect' this important advantage.

Wire went on to design promotional materials, hoardings, exhibitions and a comprehensive set of guidelines created to work seamlessly alongside existing partner identities.

“The brief required Wire to update the Canada brand to allow flexibility as the project progressed, without losing its well established identity. The results are great. We now have a revived brand that we are proud to have leading the project forward and we are extremely happy with the results.”
