London South Bank University (LSBU) approached Wire to review their current student Handbook and Welcome Pack with the view to producing one for the next year’s intake.
From looking at the initial offer it was evident that the material was disjointed in format, design, information and continuity with many additional pieces added in an ad-hoc manner besides the core Handbook. It required not just a visual overhaul but also a fresh approach to the structure and format of delivery and return to the university’s brand values.
Wire deconstructed the content and from that ran two focus groups, one with key staff stakeholders and the second with past students, to clarify the priority and inclusion of information. We were then able to establish the function and necessity of the information needed as something which needed to be handy, provided bare essential information but pointed the students to further resources.
A compact, extremely functional and invaluable resource was created. Further work with LSBU has stemmed from this.
