A key part of the Elephant & Castle regeneration scheme is to keep the public informed about the progress of the programme. Wire designed a special exhibition that was housed in a marquee by the London College of Communication.
Held in January 2007, over 1200 people visited over five days. Extended for an extra three days due to inclement weather and its sheer popularity, it attracted local residents, businesses and students alike. The exhibition has now moved to the Elephant and Castle shopping centre on a permanent basis
To coincide with the exhibition, Wire have published 'Renaissance: The revitalisation of Elephant & Castle', a 144 page book that documents the past, present and future of the area. From the wartime photography of Bert Hardy through to computer generated images of the future, 'Renaissance' is a important document for the understanding of the regeneration programme.
